2008 Was Great…

…but 2009 is going to be divine mind-blowingly fantazmic!!!!!

Dana and I stand amazed at what God has done in the first few months of The Summit! It has been incredible to watch Him bring together a bunch of strangers and create a family to blow away east Tennessee with His magnificent love!

We have seen a total of 367 people come and experience a weekend event at The Summit. We have averaged 126 for the year with a low of 85 (today) and a high of 169. We have celebrated 15 professions of faith and baptized 9 in our 13 weeks as a church. We had a huge “Chest of Joash” offering and we are seeing the people at The Summit become tithers. That is great! Read the rest of this entry »

First Baptism Experience @ The Summit in Seymour, TN

This was such an incredible day! We baptized 9 at our first Baptism celebration; we celebrated the Lord’s Supper together for the first time as a church and our people declared their amazing faith faith by giving a mind blowing sacrificial offering for our Chest of Joash experience!

Can God Use You If You Have a Past?

December 12, 2008 at 8:10 am (Forgiveness) (, , , , , , , , , , )

By “past” I mean those people who have days, months or years, that are behind them, that have been tainted by mistakes or wrong doings. With that definition, how many would say, “Yes, I have a past” ?

I have to admit, I always get a bit amused by those who believe that this person or that person can’t be used to accomplish God’s purpose because they have a less than stellar past. I also get amused (and a little annoyed) by those who say you don’t qualify to pastor or serve as a deacon in a church because you have been divorced. Even those who have been divorced want to qualify their position by saying they were divorced before they were Christians. I say, “so what, a tainted past is a tainted past.” Read the rest of this entry »

December @ The Summit

December 11, 2008 at 9:13 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

summitchristmaslogo Wow! This has been such a busy month and everyone around here has been so busy. I know it’s been a while since I wrote on this blog, but I am committed and I am back!

December has started out so awesome here in east Tennessee. This weekend The Summit is hosting the warming station for Christmas @ The Academy located at The King’s Academy. It is a live Christmas Card display with a live nativity and the living story of the birth of Jesus displayed before us. We get the chance to serve the community and pass out invite cards for our Christmas Eve experience and promote our January teaching series.

This weekend we are celebrating our first ever “Giving is the Reason” weekend at The Summit. We are starting our worship off with our first Baptism experience (Giving Obedience) at The Summit; we will then follow with our first Communion Experience (Giving Fellowship) and we will end the morning with our first Chest of Joash offering (Giving through Sacrifice).

We are so pumped about this day we can’t stand it! I pray God blesses all of you and I will post a Baptism video later.

Be Happy!
