Thanksgiving is a Choice
I’ve been amazed how many people I’ve talked to, just this week, that have had their world rocked by some sort of unsettling news. On top of that, this is the one week of the year that we have said that we would be more thankful than ever, even to the point of celebrating with a huge feast and surrounding ourselves with friends and family.
But when your world gets rocked with uncertainty, sometimes you just don’t feel like celebrating and you’re not sure if you can be thankful. You know you should…but it’s hard.
However, much like the turkeys in the picture above, when we face seemingly insurmountable challenges we have to learn how to be innovative and full of faith. Read the rest of this entry »
A Lot of Thanksgiving
Well, my blogging has certainly been less than consistent lately. But I have good reason. I have been very busy giving God a lot of Thanksgiving and that has kept me busy doing a lot of work. After all, I have a lot for which to be thankful.
I have a wonderful family and for the most part we are all healthy.
I have a wonderful new church family at The Summit. I am thankful that I am getting to know each of them better and making new friends is always fun. Read the rest of this entry »
Does God Answer Prayers?
Of course the Bible says He answers prayers and we have in fact been fortunate enough to have maybe a few examples of answered prayers. But were those just examples of ‘dumb luck’ , ‘divine coincidence’ or ‘God taking an active part in our lives’.
This week we continue our series entitled “WHY?” as we look at the question, “Why doesn’t God answer my prayer?” We are expecting a great crowd and guys…our Summit Kidz is rockin’ like crazy! We have averaged 34 children as they explore Superheroes of God this month. They are are having a blast in our Tree House themed kids worship environment and our Summit Kidz Guides are doing an awesome job! You have got to experience it to believe it! You’ll Know When You Get There
As a kid, family vacations were the most exciting times I can remember. For my parents…a nerve racking, hair pulling, emotional fun-pack of endless and annoying questions followed by the back seat brawls, name calling frenzies, and finger pointing accusations which were always supported by “not me”, “I don’t know” and “uh?”.
These trips were also accented by the timeless and often anticipated question, “Are we there yet?”
