That’s All I Need
Next Sunday we will celebrate the Grand Beginning of The Summit Church. I will be speaking about “More”. In this humorous 1979 clip from “The Jerk”, Steve Martin’s character shows us that there is always something “more” that we want. On October 5th @ 10 AM, I will share what that “more” is. We hope that you will choose to be our guests and discover what the “more” is for your life.
Be Happy!

Door Hangers vs. Direct Mail
Okay, I know everyone is just all jazzed-up last night after the presidential debates (yawn) and can’t think about much else, but today we have much to do.
We are going out to put door hangers in the neighborhoods and throughout the community for the fifth time in 2 weeks. We have a total of 7,500 door hangers to hand out and a 3 week plan to do it. Why door hangers? Frankly, it was less expensive than a direct mailing campaign. But we have found some other benefits that we didn’t think about and some that we didn’t expect. New Website. New Look
In just the next day or two, we will be unveiling our new website and look. Since being here and watching the DNA we have established as a church, we feel this will better represent who we are. When you see it, notice how the old and new blend together and let us know what you think. Check back over the next couple days and I will let you know when it goes live. In the meantime, here is a bit of a sneak peak.
Thank you for something MORE
That was the subject title in the email I received this week. Every Pastor I know needs to have a “lift me up” from time-to-time. I share this not for my benefit, but for any of you that may need a lift me up today. I received this email from a guest who came to The Summit’s preview experience this past weekend. When I read it, I got goose bumps and smiled from ear-to-ear. Why? Because it was an awesome confirmation that we are where we should be, doing what we were called to do. Here are a few outtakes from this person’s email:
We liked the service very much and enjoyed the singing.
Your preaching was a breath of fresh air.I was delighted to get the Summit door hanger and dared to hope that maybe we have found a church.
Like I said before, the service was a breath of fresh air and we loved it. The best part of all, as we were walking to our truck, the girls asked if we can please come back when its open again. We will look forword to coming back on the 5th of Oct.
That is pretty cool. We pray we help every one possible find that breath of fresh air..that something more that they have been desiring. Please pray for us that we will always remember it’s about God…NOT us.
Be Happy!

The Summit Will Launch on Ocotber 5th
We had a great day at The Summit yesterday. It was our preview service and we all learned a lot from it. We had a total of 112 yesterday (that’s great for a preview) of which around 90 were guests. It was awesome to see so many guests coming to check us out and we hope they will be back, with friends, in 2 weeks.
Those of you who are checking us out because you received a door hanger…Welcome! We will be celebrating our Grand Opening at The King’s Academy on October 5th. We start at 10 AM but we encourage you to come early and enjoy our Black Bear Cafe’, meet new friends, get your kids checked-in to the Summit Kidz area and enjoy some awesome worship.
Give us a call for more information and we look forward to seeing you on the 5th!
Be Blessed!

Monday Morning Madness
Ok, in 2 weeks we will be having services every single week…wow! So, I was trying to think of a creative title for my thoughts about Sunday, lol. My creativity is somewhere between exhaustion and…what was I saying. Oh yea..
Anyway, I have seen Sunday Brain Dump, Sunday Night Reflections, Sunday Night Mind Dump, and many more. But for me, today, it is Monday Morning oh crap we still have a lot to do in two weeks because we only have one chance to make a first impression and can I do this as I vomit just a little bit in my mouth Madness.
Yesterday we had our first and only preview service and it went pretty good. We learned a lot about what we did and didn’t do and what we still need to learn. There was stuff we forgot, misplaced and just dropped the ball on. Here is a list and if any of you church people out there see anything that would help…GIVE US A SHOUT! Read the rest of this entry »
Looking forward to a new beginning
This Sunday, September 21st, we will have our first Sunday Morning worship Experience at 10 AM!
We have worked, prayed and thought long and hard for the last 11 months about what this would look like and now we are finally here. I have heard time and again from people that they are very happy that a new church like The Summit is going to be here in Seymour. There are many who gave up on church and God a long time ago who are now looking for a chance to reconnect. The Summit is the kind of church that will allow them to do this without being judged or questioned as to their motives or lifestyles.
I have heard from people that are looking forward to coming to a worship experience that allows them “to be them”. A place where they can come as they are and feel like they fit right in. They are looking forward to being a part of something new because of the freshness and innovation that maybe other churches aren’t doing right now. I have heard from some, that they are going to come out and hang with us because we are not a traditional church. We don’t have the steeple, traditions and some of the barriers that have kept them away from other places. It’s NOT that other churches don’t offer this stuff, they just don’t know about it.
I am looking so forward to meeting new people this weekend. Finding out what is going on in other people’s lives and see what is driving people these days. We hope you will come out and see what The Summit is all about. Maybe we are for you, but even if we aren’t, you will have met new people, had good coffee and experienced a worship time like never before!
See you Sunday @ 10 AM

Giving Away Free Gas…
This past Saturday, The Summit Church stood at the Pilot Gas Station in Seymour giving away $5 Pilot Cards to anyone pulling up to the pumps. We saw a lot of reaction. “What’s the scam?” one person questioned. Others were very grateful, some were skeptical, and a few were just down-right ‘giddy’.
We knew on Friday we had either picked the worse weekend in the world to give away gas or the best. With Hurricane Ike, gas prices were reportedly going to soar, which they did…$4.99 a gallon in the Knoxville area, and people rushed out on Friday with fears of stations running out of gas and the prices going too high. On top of that, Pilot had the highest prices!
Nonetheless, I feel we were able to bring a little happiness in a very stressful world for a lot of people. We gave away free gas, with no strings attached, and were able to invite many to our launch service. It’s our prayer we will be know from the start as a church who lives outside the walls!
Be Happy!
